Human hair storm filters
Inventor Sébastien Vrac has proposed filtering the water that goes into storm drains to prevent trash being carried out into oceans. The odd part of his idea is that he wants to use human hair as the filter: The filter consists of a fabric bag filled with hair, inserted into a cage made from recycled materials. Placed under the grate of a manhole, the system acts as a barrier that retains solid waste carried by rainwater.
